Ask-the-Masses: Conferences

Cara Asks:
I'm planning on attending ILA/ACRL in Indianola tomorrow and am interested in hearing what others are most looking forward to about the conference. If you're not attending, what are the things you most value about conferences in general (either in the presentations, keynotes, or outside of sessions)? What types/formats of presentations do you find most valuable?

  1. That is a great question!

Unfortunately I am unable to attend this years ILA/ACRL. When I do go to conferences, I really value the ability to network and think about new concepts. The ideal conference is one that I am pumped after leaving. It'll give tons of ideas on how to enhance my instruction and library.

Personally, I tend to really like the lecture style presentation. There just is something about one or two people sharing a success or failure, which has shaped their experience as a librarian.
